A shared iftar evening for women, with Studiefrämjandet

An iftar evening at Dalhems centrum where every participant brought a home-cooked dish — with a photo corner, a conversation about what to keep after Ramadan, and games once the food was eaten.

Sadda Kulturförening held, together with Studiefrämjandet, a shared iftar evening for women at Dalhems centrum. The evening was marked by warmth, company and a family feeling far from home.

The iftar was arranged as a shared table, where each participant brought a dish she had cooked herself. It made for a varied and well-liked Ramadan table with many different tastes.

The programme opened with a Ramadan-themed photo corner, Ramadan songs and a short round of introductions. A time for reflection and conversation followed, on the theme: “Ramadan — what do we want from it this year?”

At sunset the participants broke their fast with dates and then gathered around the meal. The conversation turned to the good habits that had grown during Ramadan, the changes the participants had noticed in themselves, and what they wanted to carry with them once the month ended. The exercises included themes such as “Ramadan changed me when…” and “A message to myself after Ramadan”.

After the meal the evening continued with Ramadan competitions, interactive questions, group games and charades. Among the parts the participants played were “Guess who I am”, the musaharati, a mother cooking, and a child waiting for Eid.

Five prizes were given to the winners, with generous support from Sham Restaurang in Helsingborg and from Jobbstjärnan Helsingborg, which provides the Rusta och matcha service.

The evening ended with flowers for the participants to mark International Women's Day, and with the winners of the Ramadan competitions being recognised.

Sadda Kulturförening warmly thanks everyone who took part and helped make the evening possible. We wish Ramadan returns with joy, company and blessing for everyone.
