An evening honouring the mothers and celebrating their children's graduation from upper secondary school and university — with speeches, their own stories, and cake.
Sadda Kulturförening held a ceremony in honour of mothers, celebrating the success of their sons and daughters at upper secondary school and at university. The evening opened with a welcome from the chair, Rabaa Rahal, followed by Noura Melhem of Finders Rusta och Matcha and Nivin Abu Raya of Studiefrämjandet.
The mothers being honoured told their own stories from this time in their children's lives. Dr Reem Hourani, Nidaa, Ola Al-Bazaz and Samar Abu Harb then spoke on health awareness, complementary medicine, hair loss, and the role of the family seen through a sociologist's eyes.
The speakers will return in a series of gatherings on support and empowerment for women. The whole account is in the news post, and the pictures are in the gallery.
