The City of Helsingborg gave the Arabic-speaking community, associations and mosques among them, the chance to help arrange a joint Eid al-Fitr celebration as volunteers. The initiative is meant to grow into a yearly tradition in our city.
Sadda Kulturförening had the honour of being one of the participating associations. The event was an important first step towards making our traditions and our culture visible in society, and celebrating them.
Anything done for the first time naturally brings both challenges and lessons worth having. It is also a step that matters for the generations coming after us: through initiatives like this we strengthen their sense of identity and belonging and encourage them to take part, while the cultural heritage is kept.
We warmly thank the City of Helsingborg for its support and encouragement, and all the organisations and organisers who contributed to the celebration, Inva-Sam and NBV among them.
